At our first meeting with proprietors Claudia Dick and Gabriel Cruz, the gauntlet was thrown down to take a dilapidated old space and turn it 180 degrees into a chic, warm, inviting space that would evoke a Southern American Cajun flare within a very limited time frame.

The entire space had to be renovated from plumbing to electrical, with a primary focus on creating an open kitchen with the ability to entertain.

The space came with all the challenges of a renovation. Tight spaces and an old building forced changes to accommodate needs.

Cafe Trinity - Before

The main space was transformed into a bar/dining area with the flare of New Orleans. Comfortable seating areas for dining were laid out. The bar area was assessed and redesigned. Local craftsman were enlisted to design and fabricate a new back bar that anchored the look of the space. Hand finisher Jennings Waterhouse was brought in to paint a brick look to the front of the bar and to texture and define the old block brick on the walls. Muralist Maria Larson created two large murals to define the dining area making creative use of two old covered windows. The back dining area was enhanced with color and soft drapery treatments, with a large dining bar fabricated in smooth black slate open to the culinary happenings in the kitchen.

Cafe Trinity - After

Lighting was the definitive element of the space. Each room had large chandeliers that set the tone and decorative pendant lights that evoke the southern flare.

Amberleaf designs worked with various suppliers to design and supply a commercial kitchen in a limited space that is functional and aesthetically pleasing to the public. During our cold, wet winters, the space is a warm and inviting, helping to transport the guest to a time and place with great southern food.
