This 16 room 9 bath Beaver Creek home was in desperate need of a facelift inside and out. Patti and Michelle worked with the client, architect and contractor, to develop a plan of attack that would take this 1970's home into the new millennium.
The main client request was that we bring the warm feeling of the Colorado Mountain setting in to the home. This was accomplished through the use of natural materials such as slate, sandstone, marble, granite, tree trunks, quarter saw white oak flooring and textured fabrics. Many of the spaces were small and needed to be enlarged. Walls were opened up and unified open rooms were created.
The powder bath has a custom designed integral color plaster wall treatment, that uses real aspen leaves pressed into the plaster as it dries. Once dried the leaves are removed then accent colors are hand painted. The one of a kind above counter sink was the initial inspiration for the entire bath.
The kitchen was completely remodeled using the original refrigerators. Paradisio granite countertops combined with a sandstone cook-top surround, work to ground the scale of the space. Added warmth was given to the space through the use of Quarter sawn white oak cabinets and floor.
The living rooms central focus is the Custom design fireplace. The client requested it resemble a local mountain range. A group effort was needed between the architect, contractor and designer to finalize the look. At the very beginning of the remodel a large open space was found above the living room, that created a perfect library/ game room space for the kids.
The dining room draws its inspiration nature. The 22 x 13 rug was design to resemble a river with boulders grounding the edges, and supporting the tree trunk table bases at the center. The two large chipped edge glass tops help to reveal the unique elements beneath. The client chose the dishware to enhance the natural feel.
